A tasty event that raises funds to clothe needy children in Knox County gets underway Friday.

The annual Galesburg Kiwanis Club Pancake Day is serving at two times during the day and evening at Trinity Lutheran Church in town.

Hungry patrons can get their fill of pancakes, sausage as well as coffee, milk, or juice and all the money raised goes to the club’s mission of serving the needy children of the world, starting in Knox County.

Faye Schulz with the Galesburg Kiwanis Club says that members will be pulling double duty on pancake day, with serving times from 10:30 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. and again from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Kiwanis International is an organization that serves children all around the world, and Schulz says that they will be shopping for clothes for 36 needy elementary school children from Galesburg and Knoxville.

Tickets run at $5 for adults while children eat free, and the Kiwanis Club will also be accepting monetary donations at the event.

Trinity Lutheran Church is located on the corner of North Kellogg and Ferris streets.
