The Galesburg Silver Streaks girls basketball team fell in their Western Big 6 Conference opener to the Rock Island Rocks 61-35. The Streaks had a rough outing, turning the ball over 20 times and being out-rebounded 33-23. Streaks didn’t shoot the ball very well and didn’t get a lot of shots off, as they were just 12 of 39 from the field and going 6 for 12 from the free throw line. The Rocks on the other hand shot much better especially in the second half ending up 25 of 47 for the game. The Rocks were led by South Carolina bound Brea Beal who put up a double-double with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 blocked shots. The GHS Silver Streaks were led by Senior Andrea Sampson our Dave’s Autobody Crunch-Time Player of the Game who finished the night with 11 points and 2 rebounds while going 3/3 on 3-pointers. The next action for the Streaks comes up Saturday afternoon as they take on Pontiac back in the Thanksgiving Tournament with an 11:40am pre-game and 12pm tip off here on WGIL.
