Galesburg Silver Streaks Boys Basketball vs Madison Trojans

The Galesburg Silver Streaks played the first of two games Friday morning in their Thanksgiving Tournament, and got a win.

The Streaks led from start to finish in a 68-58 win over Madison.  But, it did mirror the Streaks’ Wednesday night victory over Springfield Sacred Heart Griffin in some ways.  Galesburg, once again, built a 20 point lead in the second half, and the Trojans crawled back to within six on several occasions in the fourth quarter.

But, this time, the Streaks handled the ball better down the stretch, shot free throws better down the stretch, and never let the Trojans get any closer than that six-point margin, in winning it by ten.

Eric Price led the Streaks in scoring with 19.  Jaylin McCants had a double-double — 17 points and ten rebounds.  Quinn Anderson finished with 12.  Keith Cunningham was our Dave’s Autobody Crunch Time Player of the Game.  As opposed to his 28 the other night, he had just eight Friday afternoon, but had a big stretch in the fourth quarter — both defensively with a couple key rebounds, and a couple of shots that helped secure the Streaks victory.

Galesburg is now 2-0 on the season.  The Streaks will battle Chicago Wells in the final game of day at 7:30pm Friday from John Thiel Gym.  You can hear the broadcast beginning at 7:06pm on WGIL, WGIL.com, and WGIL on the TuneIn Radio app.
