
Kathleen C. “Kathy” Rowley, 75 of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 7:00 am, Tuesday, December 24, 2018 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.
She was born January 24, 1943 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of James and Helen (Lee) Cavanaugh. Kathy was raised in rural Monmouth; she attended Immaculate Conception School and later graduated in the first graduating class from Yorkwood High School in 1961.
Kathy married Richard C. “Dick” Rowley on February 10, 1962 at Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth and he passed away on May 14, 2018.
Kathy was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her family. She liked to wallpaper and paint with her good friend Judi James while her children were young. Kathy later worked at Federal Land Bank and then Farm Credit Services until her retirement in 2000. She enjoyed decorating, shopping, and was an excellent cook who loved to entertain. Kathy never missed any of her children’s events, “She was a great Mom”. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and the Alter and Rosary Society.
Kathy and Dick have six children together, two sons; John (Debbie) Rowley of Geneseo, IL, Jim (Melanie) Rowley of Dunlap, IL, four daughters; Jackie (Joe) Gales of Granger, IN, Jennifer (Bryan) Arnold of Sciota, IL, Jill (Barry) Flynn of Monmouth, and Jan (Joe) Carlberg of Plainfield, IL; seventeen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Survivors also include her brother, James (Rosalie) Cavanaugh of Kirkwood, IL; her sister, Delores (Joe) McCleary of Monmouth, IL; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three sisters, Roberta O’Brien, Mary Rose Sullivan, and Betty Duvall. .
A Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Church, Monmouth. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Monmouth. A Celebration of Life will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, December 28, 2018 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. A Rosary Service will be at 4:30 p.m. prior to the Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Immaculate Conception Church.
