
Norma J. Miller, 91, of Galesburg, formerly of Wataga, died at 11 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2019, in Seminary ManorShe was born May 14, 1927, in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Nora (Scheffel) Miller. She married William E. Miller on January 9, 1946, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1976, after 30 years of marriage. She is survived by a son, William “Ed” (and Brenda) Miller of Rockford; a daughter, Sheila Reid of Chicago; 6 grandchildren, Brent Miller, Jeffery Miller, Ellis E. Reid III, Ellis E. Reid V, David Reid and Dr. Noelle E. Reid; 8 great grandchildren Riley Miller, Dylan Miller, Elias Miller, Ellis E. Reid V1, Addison Reid, Gabby Brown, and Erin Reid; and one great-great granddaughter on the way. Also surviving is her brother Glen (Effie) Miller and 3 sisters, Mary Fetterman, Mildred “Jinx” Hill and Patsy Tolbert. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Kay Scarf and her son-in-law, Judge Ellis E. Reid. Norma worked for the State of Illinois as a lab technician for Galesburg Research hospital and the Agricultural Lab. She was a former member of Faith Lutheran Church in Wataga. In her spare time, Norma enjoyed quilting, gardening and tracing her family’s ancestry.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the chapel with Rev. Jim Ecklund officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
