CHICAGO (AP) – A man who allegedly opened fire on three Chicago police officers – striking one in his bullet-proof vest – has been charged with three counts of attempted murder.
The police department says that 32-year-old Swaleh Mohammed is also charged with three felony counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm.
Police say the officers had gone to Mohammed’s home in the West Rogers Park neighborhood on the city’s North Side on Saturday evening to answer a domestic disturbance call when Mohammed allegedly fired at them. Police say one of the bullets grazed an officer’s vest but that neither that officer nor the others was injured.
Mohammed barricaded himself in a bedroom but was taken into custody a short time later.
