“The Galesburg Silver Streaks lead for 3 quarters of the game, Moline didn’t have their first lead until about midway through the 4th quarter, and they come back to defeat the Streaks by a final of 41-37. Streaks jumped out to a 12-9 lead to end the 1st quarter, they outscored Moline 12-6 in the 2nd to take a 24-15 lead at halftime. Good start to the 3rd quarter for the Streaks including a 3-pointer from Andrea Sampson, they got up by as many as 12, then had trouble putting the ball in the basket for a stretch. They ended up getting outscored 14-7 in the 3rd quarter and 12-6 in the 4th quarter, in fact outscored 26-16 in that 2nd half and they fall to defeat 41-37.
“Streaks shot just 31% from the field, 23 from beyond the arc. Moline shot 44% from the field, although they made just one 3-pointer. Streaks 8/10 from the free-throw line, Moline 10/18. Andrea Sampson lead the way with 10 points. She also had 3 rebounds, an assist, and a steal, and she was our Dave’s Auto Body Crunch-time Player of the Game. Riley Jenkins had 9 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds and a steal. Daija Range had 7 rebounds with 6 points. 7 rebounds for Chloe McCarthy as well. They did a really good job defensively against the bigs for Moline but it was just too much and the Moline Maroons come out with a win 41-37.
“Galesburg now 16-14 overall, 5-4 in the Western Big 6. Moline now ends the conference season with a record of 7-4 and they’re 16-12 overall. Streaks take on the Quincy Blue Devils on the road tomorrow night. Pre-game at 6:06pm on WGIL.”
