A decisive 2nd quarter helped the Galesburg boys basketball team establish control over Alleman and then held off the Pioneers throughout the 2nd half in a 59-47 victory. It’s the Silver Streaks 3rd straight win in the Western Big 6 to get them back to the .500 mark at 4-4, and 15-10 overall.
Quinn Anderson was our Dave’s Autobdy Crunch-Time Player of the Game. Even though the Silver Streaks built a 19-point lead in the 2nd quarter, the Pioneers scored the final 6-points of the half and then the first 4-points of the 2nd half to cut the lead down to 9-points. That’s when Quinn Anderson really took over. He had 11-points in the 3rd quarter, and went on to lead the Streaks with 20-points for the game.
Jaylin McCants had his 9th double-double of the season. He finished with 18-points and 12 rebounds.
The Silver Streaks are off now for the weekend because it’s “Sweetheart Swirl” at Galesburg High School. They’ll be back in action against Moline next Friday (2/15) night, when the leading team in the Western Big 6 Conference comes to town with the Silver Streaks looking to pull off the upset.
Galesburg Sophomores were winners over Alleman as well, 67-40.
