Galesburg Silver Streaks Boys Basketball vs. Quincy Blue Devils

Here is a recap of the game from WGIL’s Brad Bennewitz:

“A 13 point second-half lead in the third quarter for the Galesburg Silver Streaks went by the wayside as Quincy scored 10 consecutive points in the third quarter. The Silver Streaks answered with a 3-pointer at the buzzer to take a six-point lead into the fourth quarter, but then Quincy went on another run with Galesburg up by six and they outscored the Silver Streaks 15-1 on their way to a 67-59 victory to wrap up the regular season. Galesburg finishes the Western Big 6 Conference at 5-5, a game back from Quincy which finishes the conference at 6-4 and in third place. Jaylin McCants led the Streaks in scoring, finishing with 26 points and 15 rebounds. Our Dave’s Autobody Crunch-Time Player of the Game was Justin Endthoff who knocked down a buzzer-beating three at the end of the third quarter which restored the Silver Streak six-point lead that they could not hold on to. Turnovers and free throws were the story of the game; Silver Streaks turned the ball over 19 times with 7 of those in the fourth quarter alone, and that helped send Quincy to the free throw line 43 times in the game and they knocked down 34. Silver Streaks wrap up the regular season 17-12 and they head into the postseason Wednesday night in the regional at Geneseo where the Silver Streaks will play the winner of Monday night’s game between Kewanee and Mendota. Silver Streak Sophomores were winners as they wrap up their season on a four-game winning streak; they defeated Quincy 47-35.”
