
Maurine E. Perdue, 101, formerly of Galesburg, died at 1:20 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2019 in the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville.
She was born September 21, 1917, in Galesburg, the daughter of Raymond J. and Cosy (Courtney) Ripperdan. She married Leonard Larson in Kahoka, Missouri. She later married Elmer J. Perdue on May 23, 1970, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on July 20, 1980. She is survived by a daughter, Judy (Steve) Whan of New Boston; two sons-in-law, Charles Tanner of Knoxville and Ron Sturgeon of Chicago; a daughter-in-law, Jill Larson of Woodhull; and 22 grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three daughters, Bonnie Freeman, Loretta Sturgeon, and Janet Tanner; and one son, Arthur Larson. Maurine was a homemaker. During the 1970’s, she worked in dining services at the Catherine Club and Knox College. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1936. She lived in Woodhull for 22 years before moving back to Galesburg in 1970. Maurine was a member of the Rebecca Lodge in Woodhull and the Golden Eagles CB Club in Galesburg. Maurine enjoyed playing bingo and dominoes, attending church at the nursing home and reading her Bible, and listening to country music. She especially loved to travel and visits from her family.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2019 in Clover Chapel Cemetery in Woodhull. Rev. Dan Lybarger will officiate. There will be no visitation.
