Joan M. Johnson, 80, of Galesburg, died at 3:11 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2019, in Courtyard Estates of Knoxville.She was born August 31, 1938, in Industry, Illinois, the daughter of Robert V. and Goldie P. (Willey) DeWeese. She married Allen N. Johnson on November 17, 1956, in Galesburg.

She is survived by her husband of over 62 years, Allen; four children, Jane (John) Pritchard of Galesburg, Paul (Candas) Johnson of Loveland, Colorado, Cathy (Joe) Morrison of North Henderson, and Jack (Lynn) Johnson of Dahinda; 11 grandchildren, Sarah E. Pritchard, John T. (Christin) Pritchard, Emily J. (John) Ruppel, Charles B. (Jenelle) Pritchard, Christopher A. (Tasha) Johnson, Kathryn L. (Michael) Foster, Cameron M. Slate, Jacob D. Morrison, Maddison J. Morrison, Nichole J. Johnson, and Natalie L. Johnson; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Jack (Joyce) DeWeese of Galesburg and Roger “Butch” (Pam) DeWeese of Texas; a sister, Kathy Ziegler of Galesburg; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.

Joan graduated from Galesburg High School. She was a devoted homemaker to her family. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church. Joan served on the board of directors for OSF volunteers. Joan enjoyed her flowers and gardening, and traveling with Allen across the United States and at locations around the world. She particularly enjoyed train trips to Chicago with her grandchildren. Joan was known for her baking, especially for church luncheons and hospital bake sales.

Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Pamela Marolla officiating. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral. Her cremated remains will be scattered in the Scattering Garden of East Linwood Cemetery.
