CHICAGO (AP) – A multiday sentencing hearing in a Chicago terrorism case resumes with an undercover agent testifying with his identity hidden because prosecutors say he’d be in danger if his face was revealed.
The judge overseeing sentencing for Adel Daoud said she’d rather the agent wear a wig and dark glasses, or some other disguise as he takes the stand Tuesday. But she said she’ll reluctantly close her courtroom to the media and public if that’s’ not possible.
Audio of the agent’s testimony would be made available for reporters and members of the public in another courtroom.
The agent posed as an Islamic militant in a 2012 FBI sting that led to Daoud’s arrest after he tried to detonate a phony bomb he believed would destroy a downtown Chicago bar.
