Walter M. “Mike” Rohrig, 67, of Galva, died at 5:35 a.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at the home of his daughter surrounded by his family. Cremation will be accorded and a Celebration of his Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 7 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.

He was born January 12, 1952, in Kewanee, the son of Walter and Mary Lee (Young) Rohrig. He married Karen C. Derick on August 21, 1976, in Kewanee. Survivors include his wife of Galva, his two girls, Jenny (Lenny) Fryer and Krystal (Drew) Dirks, both of Galesburg, two grandchildren, Aribella and Zane, three brothers; Joe (Jean) Rohrig of Kewanee, Kevin (Sherrie) Rohrig of Galva and Tom (Christi) Rohrig of Altona, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Debbie and Gary Boswell of Kewanee, his longtime childhood friend, Wayne Bryan of Kewanee and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Timothy “Tim” Rohrig, his Mother-in-law, Rosemary Derick and a sister-in-law, Joanne Petty.

Mike had worked in maintenance at Best Manufacturing in Galva. He had attended the Assembly of God Church in Galva. He enjoyed junking and going to yard sales, working on cars and riding motorcycles. He was especially fond of Fords and Harley-Davidsons. Mike never knew a stranger and he especially enjoyed visiting and just being with his family.
