Mario A. Gutierrez, 72, of Galesburg, IL, passed away at 8:01 a.m., Saturday, September 21, 2019, at his home. He was born on August 26, 1947, in Monterrey N.L., Mexico, the son of Prudenciano and Josefina (Rodriguez) Gutierrez. Mario was raised and educated in Mexico. Mario married Janalee Beens on July 11, 1975, in Rankin, TX; she survives. Mario first worked at Wittek in LaGrange Park, IL; and because of Wittek he moved to the Galesburg area. After Wittek closed he began working at Butler, and worked there until their closing. Mario then went to work at Midstate Manufacturing in Galesburg as a brake press operator. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Galesburg and served as an Elder. Mario was very proud to have earned his citizenship to the United States in 1996. Most of all, Mario was a dedicated family man and loved to spend time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Olivia. He also enjoyed camping and was an avid animal lover. Surviving Mario is his wife, Janalee Gutierrez of Galesburg, IL; one son, Christopher Gutierrez of Dallas, TX; one daughter, Gabriella (Jason) Marshall of Galesburg, IL; one granddaughter, Olivia Marshall of Galesburg, IL; one sister, Aurora Gutierrez de Bertoni of Mexico; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews also survive.
Memorial services will be at 5:30 pm, Friday, September 27, 2019, at the Mt. Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, Galesburg. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials can be made to the Mt.
