The Moline Maroons scored on four of their first five offensive possessions and never allowed Galesburg to really get back into the game to make any kind of a serious run offensively, knocking off the Silver Streaks 34-13 at Browning field. That drops Galesburg to 1-5 on the season and 0-4 in the Western Big 6 Conference while Moline improves to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play, leaving them still a game back from Sterling in first place. The Streaks played a much better second half both offensively and defensively. Hunter DeVena earned our Dave’s Autobody Crunch-Time Player of the Game largely because of that defensive effort, but DeVena did have a touchdown reception as well for the Streaks’ only offensive score of the game. They also had a long kickoff return for a touchdown by Xavier Coleman in the first half. The freshmen lost 30-12, so a double loss for the Silver Streaks program but Galesburg returns home next Friday night to take on United Township along with their senior night ceremony at Van Dyke field.
