Police say wounded teen likely shot by officer

CHICAGO (AP) – Chicago police say a 15-year-old high school student who was wounded during a gunfight between a suspected bank robber and investigators was likely shot by a suburban police officer.

First Deputy Supt. Anthony Riccio says the robbery happened in Des Plaines and that a Des Plaines officer pursued the suspect into Chicago.

The suspect ran into the music store where the Lane Tech High School sophomore was working. The officer followed the suspect into the store and gunfire was exchanged.

The suspect was wounded and later died, while the teen was shot in the arm and stomach. Riccio says the boy’s condition is improving.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the bank robber as 32-year-old Christopher Terrell Willis of Chicago.
