Two arrested for meth possession

Two people were arrested this week for possessing a small amount of meth, one of them was also charged with escaping from police custody.

According to a Galesburg Police report, officers learned of a suspicious vehicle sitting at the intersection of Duffield Avenue and East North Street that had allegedly been sitting there for an hour.

Officers made contact with the individuals and noticed drug paraphernalia in the vehicle, prompting a search of the car and the occupants.

They searched 29-year-old Larry L. Black Junior of Galesburg and 27-year-old Lacy L. Smith of Cameron, finding small amounts of methamphetamine on each of them.

They were arrested and taken to the Knox County Jail while the vehicle was being searched. Reports are vague on how, but Black was said to have escaped police custody and ran from officers.

He was again arrested at Dollar General at the corner of Main and Seminary streets. He was additionally charged with escape.
