The 4th Annual Galesburg Express returns on Saturday, December 14th. The National Railroad Hall of Fame has taken over planning this year and there’s no shortage of activities: from meals, carriage rides, movies and more. The day kicks off on Saturday with Breakfast with Santa. “It will be at the Discovery Depot from 8:00 am to 9:30 am,” said Tessa Jones with the National Railroad Hall of Fame. “Tickets are still available. For anyone over 1 (year old) tickets are $12 but that includes admission into the museum as well. Santa will be there with Mrs. Clause – so a perfect picture opportunity for families.” A new event will also begin at the same time: Santa’s Gift Shop. “We are having Santa’s Gift Shop which is out craft and vendor fair,” Jones added. “(It’s) kind of our first year thanks to our community members that kind of reached out and said: “Oh- this would be a neat opportunity to have a table available for crafters and vendors right before Christmas.” So, why not. It’s from 8:00 am to noon on the 14th in the Kensington Ballroom. We have a good selection of crafters and vendors alike.” There will be the YMCA “Jingle Jog” from 8:00 am to 9:00 am, the Galesburg Public Library will host the Frozen-themed Arendelle Depot from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm, there are carriage rides from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm, and the Polar Express will be shown at the Orpheum Theatre at 2:00 pm. The Holiday Headquarters on Simmons street will be open from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm with another appearance expected from St. Nick. For more information, visit the Galesburg Express page on Facebook.
