Galesburg Silver Streaks Girls Basketball vs. Quincy Blue Devils

Here’s a recap of the game from WGIL’s Tom Meredith:

The Galesburg Silver Streaks girls basketball team handed the Quincy Blue Devils their first Western Big 6 Conference loss of the season, 53-41.

The Streaks had some struggles midway through the 1st quarter until about midway through the 2nd quarter trailing Quincy, 13-7. Galesburg then outscored the Blue Devils 19-7 towards the end of the 2nd quarter and went into the locker room with a 27-20 lead at halftime.

It was an up-and-down 3rd quarter as the Silver Streaks didn’t score until less than 5 minutes to go in the quarter and were outscored 9-6. But Galesburg came out in the 4th quarter hitting a lot of free throws and some three-pointers, outscoring Quincy 20-12 in that final quarter.

Streaks shot the ball pretty well from the field, 16 for 38. Kaylee Miller led the way with 15-points on 5 three-pointers and she was named the Dave’s Autobody Crunch-Time Player of the Game.  She was 3 of 4 for three-pointers and had a rebound and a steal in the 4th quarter as well. Riley Jenkins had 13 points and 11 points for Lauren Livingston, who had a double-double with 11 rebounds as well.

The GHS girls basketball team plays next on Saturday when they take on Alleman at John Thiel Gym. Due to a conflict with the GHS boys game at the same time, live coverage of the girls game will be on 92.7 FM The Laser starting with the pregame at 3:40 PM.
