An event beginning Friday, December 13th will help you remember the true meaning of Christmas – and create a memory of your own. The Living Nativity at Bethel Baptist Church is Friday, December 13th and Saturday, December 14th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. “So what we’ll do, we’ll walk into the church, and the first scene, of course, is the shepherds and the angels and that’ll be in the sanctuary,” said Pastor Scott Wilson. “Then you’ll walk through some of the different areas of the building leading, ultimately, to Mary and Joseph and Jesus in a manger – of course that will be on the corner of Academy and Fremont.  That part will be outside. Then after that, they get to come inside and the gym will be decorated in kind of a winter wonderland (plus) Christmas cookies and hot cocoa, and just a wonderful Christmas memory.”  The event is free but attendees are asked, if they can, to consider giving a gift of a non-perishable food item to benefit the Galesburg Rescue Mission and Women’s Shelter.

The Gift of Lights returns Friday, December 13th and Saturday, December 14th. The drive-through holiday light display at Lincoln Park is from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm each night.
The cost is $5 per car or $10 per bus or shuttle with proceeds to benefit local non-profits.

The WGIL Community Food Drive returns Saturday, December 14th. Station staff will be posted outside both HyVee locations in Galesburg, Walmart in Galesburg and Hi-Lo in Abingdon from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Just look for the brown UPS truck to drop-off a non-perishable food donation. Donations collected in Galesburg will benefit the FISH food pantry, donations in Abingdon will benefit the Abingdon Community Food Pantry.
The Williamsfield Holiday Market is Saturday, December 14th at Williamsfield High School. The Class of 2022 is hosting the craft and vendor show from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Over 25 local vendors will be present, and there will be a breakfast with Santa in the cafeteria for $5 for adults and $3 for kids. The Williamsfield High School choir will also be performing in the commons area.
The Galesburg High School 24th Annual Madrigal Dinner is Saturday, December 14th and Sunday, December 15th at 1:00 pm each day. The show includes holiday songs from each of the GHS choirs, the play – which tells the story of a medieval royal court that struggles to find a peaceful holiday season, and the dinner. Tickets are $15 in person.
