Galesburg Silver Streaks Boys Basketball vs. Bettendorf Bulldogs

Here’s a recap of the game from WGIL’s Brad Bennewitz:

The Galesburg boys basketball team rebounded nicely after trailing the entire game at East Moline on Friday night came back and led virtually the entire game in a 56-46 win over Bettendorf at the Genesis Iowa/Illinois Shootout. In doing so, Galesburg halted a 13-game losing streak by Illinois teams in the Shootout.

It was a fast start for the Silver Streaks. The game was tied at 2, then Galesburg went on an 18-2 run for the rest of the 1st quarter to take a 20-4 lead. Bettendorf crawled back to within 10 at halftime and the lead was still 1o going into the 4th quarter when the Streaks had another big burst and built the lead to 17. While Bettendorf pulled back within single digits late in the game, the outcome was never really in doubt after that.

Rylee Milan was our Dave’s Autobody Crunch-Time Player of the Game. During the 3rd quarter when the Streaks were able to extend that 10 point lead and build some of that 2nd half comfort back, Rylee knocked down two big 3-pointers and had 8 of his 11 in the 3rd quarter.

Jaylin McCants was the leading scorer, even though for the second-straight night he had a season low, finishing with 15 points and 2 crowd-pleasing dunks in the game that brought some of the fans to their feet. Eric Price finished with 11, one of three players in double figures for the Streaks.

The Silver Streaks go to 6-2 on the season. Bettendorf drops to 0-5.

Galesburg now heads to Macomb for another road-game on Monday night. We’ll have the pregame coverage a little after 7:00pm when the Streaks battle the Bombers on 93.7 FM and 1400 AM WGIL.
