Galesburg Silver Streaks Boys basketball @ Macomb Bombers

The Galesburg Silver Streaks varsity boys basketball team played well in the first half at Macomb Monday night, taking a 39-25 lead.  But, it was the early minutes of the third quarter that really secured the victory for the Streaks, forcing a handful of turnovers in the first two and a half minutes of the third quarter, and a 15-2 run that surged Galesburg’s lead to 27, and eventually a 74-36 victory that featured a running clock in the fourth quarter.

Jaylin Mccants, our Dave’s Autobody Crunch Time Player of the Game, passed 800 career points in scoring, with a 31 point, 10 rebound effort — his sixth double-double of the season.  Mccants was at the point of that Streaks trapping press that ended up forcing 23 Macomb turnovers on the night.

Eric Price also finished in double figures, with 13 points.  Rylee Milan just missed double figures with 9.

Galesburg improves to 7-2 on the season.

The Streaks Sophomores also were winners in a thrilling overtime victory, 63-61, that featured 25 points from Jeremiah Babers.

Next up for the Silver Streaks is a Western Big 6 home match against Moline coming up on Friday night.  Listen for coverage starting at 7:06pm on WGIL, WGIL.com, and WGIL on the TuneIn Radio app.  It will be “Ugly Sweater Night” at John Thiel Gym, and there also will be an effort to collect non-perishable food for the FISH Food Pantry.
