An impounded vehicle was reported stolen overnight.
According to a Galesburg Police report, officers were dispatched to A-to-Z Auto Repair for the theft of an automobile at around 2:42 Monday morning.
Police say that an employee noticed damage to a chain-link fence, observing it to have been cut in several locations, and saw tire tracks showing someone driving a vehicle from the area.
The vehicle in question, a red 2003 Toyota Camry, was taken from the area without anyone’s consent. The vehicle was impounded as a result of an Abingdon Police Department arrest.
Officers contacted the registered owner of the vehicle, who informed them that she had junked the vehicle six months prior and wasn’t aware it was still in her name.
The investigation continues.
