Monmouth’s video gambling ordinance was updated at Monday night’s meeting.
After several discussions over the last several meetings, Aldermen approved changes to fees and increased the number of video gaming terminals a business can have.
According to the summary of the city council meeting, the annual fees to the businesses and the video gaming vendor were increased to a total of $300.
The video gaming vendor will pay the most of the fee, a total of $250. Local establishments will be responsible for paying the remaining $50.
Additionally, the council amended the ordinance to allow a business to maintain six machines, keeping in line with the State of Illinois’ maximum requirement.
Aldermen had considered keeping their maximum number at five in previous discussions.
