Galesburg Silver Streaks Boys Basketball vs. Chillicothe IVC Grey Ghosts

The Galesburg Silver Streaks boys basketball team led start to finish, scoring the first five points of the game, in a 64-37 win over Chillicothe IVC Thursday at the Streaks’ first game in the Taylorville Holiday Tournament.

The first half wasn’t pretty. The Silver Streaks had a double-digit lead late in the second quarter, before an IVC run cut the lead to seven at the half. Our Dave’s Autobody Crunch Time Player of the Game, Eric Price, took over in the third quarter. He knocked down all four of his shots, had some big offensive rebounds, and also had some key assists, as the Streaks built the lead to 15 by the end of the third quarter, and then on their way to a 27-point victory.

Price wasn’t the only player in double figures, having 14 points and six rebounds. Jaylin Mccants had his seventh double-double of the season with 22 points, and 12 rebounds.

The Silver Streaks improve to 9-2 on the season, while IVC goes to 5-4 overall. The Streaks will now take on Mt. Zion in the first game of their doubleheader Friday at the Taylorville Tournament. Start time is noon Friday. We’ll have the broadcast starting at 11:40am on WGIL. The boys will play the host Tornadoes later Friday.
