The Galesburg Silver Streaks girls basketball team lost their second game of the day in the Mattoon Holiday Tournament Thursday to the Olney East Richland Tigers, 33-32. The Streaks drop to 9-6 on the year.
The Streaks did not shoot the ball well — just 12 for 38 from the field. Mattoon, however, didn’t shoot much better — just 12 for 53. The big difference was Mattoon having five three-pointers, and they out-rebounded the Streaks on the offensive side 16 to 7.
Riley Jenkins led the way for the Streaks — 15 points, eight rebounds, and an assist. She was our Dave’s Autobody Crunch Time Player of the Game.
Olney had only four players scoring, two of them in double figures.
The Streaks need to find something offensively as they get back to it in the morning Friday against Effingham St. Anthony. You can hear that game starting at 9:40am Friday on WGIL from Mattoon.
