Irma M. Krantz, 92, of Galva, died at 6:38 p.m., Sunday, January 12, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 18 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Pastor Bob Curry will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Galva Congregational Church.
She was the second of three daughters born March 25, 1927, in Kewanee to Logan J. and Katherine (Johns) Stiers. She married Harold B. Krantz in 1948 in Galva and he preceded her in death on June 6, 1996. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Larry) Schupbach of Chillicothe, IL and Peggy (Sam) Medina of Englewood, CO, a son-in-law, Rick Mack of Galesburg, a sister, Amy Fiegan of Wilmett, IL, six grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Margaret Johnson and her daughter, Linda Mack who passed away on December 30, 2019.
Irma graduated from Galva High School and attended Bradley University in Peoria. She would return home and work for the late Dr. Leo Burcky D.D.S. Later worked at Lily Tulip in Galva where she served as Union President until 1976 and would go back into working at the Galva Dental Clinic and later worked for Dr. Wayne Skaloud D.D.S. She was a member of the Galva Congregational Church where she had served on many committees and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was also among the first members of the original Girls Scouts in Galva and later became a Troop Leader.
She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting, counted cross stitch, hardanger and swimming and had been a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor at the YMCA. She also enjoyed going on rides and trips with her husband on their motorcycle.
