It was a tough night for the Galesburg girls basketball team at Quincy as they fall to the Blue Devils by a final of 58 to 36.
Early on it looked like a good sign as Lauren Livingston opened the game with a couple of three-pointers for the Streaks. But only two Streaks scored in the first half, that was Lauren Livingston and Arleta Brown off the bench, with all three of her points on three-for-four from the free throw line. The Streaks had 16 turnovers in the ballgame, with 11 of those coming in the 1st half.
When the Silver Streaks were getting open shots, they just couldn’t get the basket to open up, especially in the 2nd half. Galesburg was down 15-9 at the end of the 1st quarter and 23-14 at the end of the 2nd quarter. They were out-scored 20-14 in the 3rd and 15-10 in the 4th quarter.
Lauren Livingston was named the Dave’s Autobody Crunch-Time Player of the Game with four three-pointers and a field goal. She had 14-points to lead the way for Galesburg.
The Silver Streaks are 14-12 on the year and fall to 3-7 in the Western Big 6, meanwhile Quincy is 12-9 on the season and 6-4 in conference play.
Tonight’s sophomore game was cancelled due to too many Quincy players being ill.
Next up, the Streaks will take on the United Township Panthers at John Thiel Gym Saturday afternoon.
