Galesburg Silver Streaks Girls Basketball vs. Sterling Golden Warriors

Here’s a recap of the game from WGIL’s Tom Meredith:

The Galesburg Silver Streaks wrapped up the home portion of their regular-season as they lost to the Sterling Golden Warriors 65-43 at John Thiel Gym.

Streaks did not shoot the ball very well just 14 of 41 from the field and 4 of 18 from behind the three-point arc. The biggest stat was probably the rebounding of Sterling. They out-rebounded the Streaks 36 to 18, including 21 to 10 on the offensive glass.

Galesburg was led by Audree Peck. She was the only player in double-figures with 16-points, 6 rebounds, a steal, and a couple of blocked shots. Lauren Livingston had 9-points.

Sterling was led by their junior, Brook Borum. She had 28-points and 16 rebounds. 10 of those offensive. They hit 24 of 51 shots in the in the ball game and shot the ball really well against the Streaks. Galesburg did force 20 turnovers and the Streaks turned the ball over 15 times, but with Sterling taking advantage and getting the points off turnovers when the Streaks were unable to do that.

Galesburg falls to 17 and 13 overall and 5-8 in the Western Big 6 Conference. Sterling now all even 15-15 on the year and 7-7 in the Western Big 6.

The Galesburg sophomore girls were a 71-32 winner here this afternoon.

Next up for the GHS girls will be the Moline Maroons for the final regular-season game at Wharton Fieldhouse  Thursday night (2/13) with the pregame at 6:40p on 93.7 FM and 1400 AM, WGIL and wgil.com.
