Official indicted on bribery charges in corruption probe

CHICAGO (AP) – A member of the staff of a Cook County board member has been indicted on charges he conspired to pay bribes to secure approval of red-light cameras in Oak Lawn. In an indictment revealed Friday, Patrick Doherty of Palos Heights is charged with three counts of bribery. The indictment contends the 64-year-old Doherty worked as a sales agent for the red-light camera company contracted since 2014 to provide cameras to Oak Lawn. He is accused of working with two others to pay a relative of an Oak Lawn village trustee to secure approval to install the cameras. Doherty’s lawyer has declined to comment on the charges.
