Here’s a recap of the game from WGIL’s Brad Bennewitz:
The Peoria Manual Rams came into John Thiel Gymnasium and ended the Galesburg Silver Streaks hopes of their first Regional title in 7 years by knocking the Silver Streaks out of the playoffs, 66-50.
Manual really controlled the pace, the tempo, and the Silver Streaks in every aspect of the game. Galesburg had a two-point lead at the end of the first quarter. Manual scored the first 10 points of the second quarter to take an 8-point lead and they led the whole rest of the way with as much as an 18-point lead in the fourth quarter.
Galesburg at one point did get the lead down to 8 in the fourth quarter and had glimpses of maybe making a run, but Manual went on a 6-0 run to rebuild the lead to 14 before Galesburg called a timeout, and really that was the last glimpse of hope that the Silver Streaks might have had for a big comeback.
The Silver Streak end the season 29-4, they’re only the fourth team in Galesburg High School boys basketball history to win 29 games in a season. Jaylin McCants finished with his 20th double-double of the year, 19-points and 11 rebounds, and Jaylin was our Dave’s Autobody Crunch Time Player of the Game.
Manual advances to the sectional next week in Peoria.
