The Knox County Emergency Management Agency continue to closely monitor developments regarding the Coronavirus, including information from the Centers for Disease Control and the Illinois Department of Public Health. The City is in daily contact with the Knox County Health Department. As of Monday, March 16th, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Knox County. In a news release, Emergency Management Coordinator Randy Hovind said, “….we are now feeling the impact of this global pandemic in how we live our daily lives. These changes may be overwhelming and concerning to many, but the City of Galesburg is prepared to continue delivering services to our residents and businesses during this time of uncertainty.” At this time, City buildings will remain open for business and our City Council will continue to meet as scheduled. As you continue to monitor the situation, remember to seek out reputable sources of information. Intergovernmental partners at local schools, the Knox County Health Department, healthcare providers, and others are working diligently to provide information about operation changes. If you have questions, go directly to the source of information instead of relying on social media or unverified accounts.
