Siegel defeats Stuckart in Warren Co. State’s Attorney primary

Longtime public defender Thomas Siegel is most likely looking to become the next Warren County States Attorney. Siegel squared off with Assistant State’s Attorney Andrew Stuckart in last night’s primary capturing nearly 56% of the vote from Warren County voters. No Democratic or other party challengers ran for the county’s chief legal prosecutor role. Current Warren County State’s Attorney Andrew Doyle will be the Republican nomination for 9th Circuit Judge.
Doyle will face Democrat Emily Sutton in November. Siegel meanwhile has told WGIL he plans to implement changes like more efficient community outreach and how preliminary hearings are held. Siegel, a Warren County native, teaches Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure for Police at Carl Sandburg College, sits on the Head Start Board. He previously served as President of the Warren County Bar Association and has served on the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Criminal Pretrial Practices.
