Knox Co. Board to consider COVID-19 emergency declaration proclamation

The Knox County Board will take action Wednesday night to make additional resources available to combat the global outbreak of COVID-19 in the county.

The board will need to approve a proclamation declaring Knox County a disaster area for coronavirus response.

This action will allow the Emergency Management Agency and Health Department to coordinate resources and response activities.

According to board documents, this action will also suspend “certain provisions and procedures for the conduct of County business in an effort to protect the health and safety of the community, and provide emergency assistance pursuant to Illinois law.”

The board will also consider a resolution to give emergency action authorization to the board chair, Pam Davidson, for the duration period of the emergency declaration. All actions taken will be subject to review and approval of the full County Board.

The board will also consider the emergency policy regarding COVID-19.

Aside from coronavirus-related items, the board will also consider the purchase of two transport vehicles for the Mary Davis Home as well as a bid and bring back for the replacement of a Galesburg Township bridge.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Knox County Board will be conducting the meeting via a teleconference starting at 6:00 pm.
