Social media continues to spread word about the one confirmed Knox County case of COVID-19 Coronavirus, but the local officials in charge of the local response still aren’t confirming much of it.

The Knox County Emergency Management Agency said Friday that the Knox County man who tested positive is in his 50’s and is recovering in a local hospital, but wouldn’t disclose anything else, citing federal law regarding health privacy.

But now, officials say in a news release say the Knox County Health Department is continuing to investigate, and that the case hasn’t been linked to travel or any other confirmed COVID-19 cases.
Because of those privacy guidelines, we cannot report on where the man lives until it’s confirmed by health officials.

Other counties with outbreaks in places like nursing homes or long term care facilities, however, have confirmed the locations of those incidents.

Mayor John Pritchard says in the Unified Command statement that officials understand the case has caused heightened concern, but that it’s a call to continue to remain vigilant, honor the shelter in place order, restrict socialization, and wash your hands.
