
Monica L. Hopping Westall, 67 of Galesburg, passed away at 7:55 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2020, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born June 15, 1952 in El Paso, Texas, the daughter of S. Eugene “Gene” and Inelda Mae (Myers) Hopping. She married Dennis Westall. Monica is survived by her husband, Dennis; one son, Scott (and Nicki) Eckman of Knox City, Texas; one adopted daughter, Dennise (and Robert) Turner of Peoria; one grandson, Matthew Westall; her mother, Inelda Hopping of Galesburg; her siblings, Rick Hopping of Gaffney, South Carolina, Kenneth Hopping of Frederick, Colorado and Genelda Hopping of Galesburg. She was preceded in death by her father.
She grew up in Abingdon and later moved with her family to the Cuba, Illinois area, where she graduated from Cuba High School in 1970. She later studied cosmetology at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg. She has lived in Galesburg for several years. She was a homemaker. She attended the Church of God of Prophecy in Abingdon. She enjoyed singing and is now a part of the heavenly choir. She also enjoyed watching TV and talking to her family on the phone. She loved her family.
Cremation will be accorded. Due to social distancing limitations related to the COVID-19 pandemic, a time to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.
