Galesburg Police say one man is in custody after he is alleged to have started shooting over the weekend.

Galesburg Police say officers Saturday received reports of a subject in all dark clothing shooting at people in two close locations — one near the Grand Liquor store on Grand Avenue, and the other near Grand and Mulberry.

Officers say it didn’t take them long to find 19-year-old Nolan Miner in the area, and that he matched the description eyewitnesses game.  As officers tried to apprehend Miner, he allegedly reached into his waistband, causing him to be taken to the ground by officers.

Shell casings were recovered from the scene, as was a nine millimeter handgun.

Miner is in the Knox County Jail on charges including Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of a Firearm with No FOID card, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

It’s not clear when Miner will next be in court, nor what his bond is.
