A Galesburg female has been arrested on charges of aggravated battery and murder in a stabbing that occurred early Saturday morning.
At around 2:17, police officers responded to 318 Maple Avenue in regards to an unknown medical call.
Officers arrived on the scene and were advised that a female subject had been stabbed and was transported to Galesburg Cottage Hospital in a private vehicle.
Police responded to Cottage and were informed that the woman was 21-year-old Shamyre K. Barber. Barber would be pronounced dead at the hospital due to her injuries.
Further investigation led to the arrest of 28-year-old Shamere M. Kimble, who resides at 318 Maple Avenue.
