Diamond Ag plans mid-summer opening outside Knoxville

A new independent ag retail business is coming to the intersection of Knox County Highway 10 and US Route 150 just west of Knoxville. Ground broke a few weeks ago for what will be the third location of Diamond Ag. Diamond Ag already has locations in Warren and Mercer County, and owners Andy Fleisher and Todd Bennett have a combined 50 years experience. They purchased the old Birkey’s Farmstore in Aledo and built a new facility on the west side of Alexis near Highway 67. Fleisher says he expects the Knoxville location to be open in 90 days. “If we’re up and running outside of Knoxville within 90 days, we’ll consider that a win,” Fleisher said. “We’re thinking right about now that that will be about the beginning or middle of what we call the corn-tassel-fungicide season. We may be able to run some product through there during that time. Then we’ll go right into the soybean fungicide application season.” Diamond Ag is in the Novus Ag network. They plan to offer the full spectrum of ag inputs: insecticides, pesticides, seed, fertilizer, and technology platforms for farmers. Seed brands they plan to offer include LG, Stine, Mycogen, and Merschman seeds.
