There’s a big sale happening this Saturday. Unfortunately, the great deal is at the expense of a local livestock producer. Porcine Farms LLC is selling butcher hogs to those that can provide transportation for the animal and proof that it will be butchered for food. The reason for the sale? Hog farmers had been at full production capacity due to the African Swine Fever that decimated hog herds in China. But then came the closure of many hog processing facilities. Mark Robinson, financial manager of Porcine Farms, joined Tom Meredith and Tyler Gumm on “Galesburg’s Morning News” to talk about the sale and the industry.
