CHICAGO (AP) – In an era of big-budget youth sports, nonprofit organizations have become a key component in providing fitness activities for American children from middle- and low-income neighborhoods. The coronavirus pandemic has put many of those organizations in jeopardy, straining their already limited sources for funding. Danya Rosen, the executive director of Chicago Run, says she is concerned about its ability to maintain its programming at the same level. Officials hope to get back into schools in the fall, but nothing is certain at the moment.
