Carl Sandburg College’s Corporate & Leisure College is offering a noncredit Google IT support professional certificate program.

The program is to prepare individuals in 16 weeks for an entry-level job in informational technology support.

“That prepares you for an entry-level job in IT support,” says Stacey Rucker, director of the Corporate and Leisure College at Sandburg.  “That’s going to be led by Andrea Jenkins.  It’s completely online.  $375 to enroll.  “If you want to get into that job market quickly, and just do 16 weeks of coursework, five online classes would be a good fit for you.”

The online classes begin Aug. 3 and conclude Nov. 20.   The entire certificate will be completed through a mix of video lectures, readings, practice exercises and quizzes.

There are five classes that will need to be completed to receive the certificate.   Students must enroll in all five classes, and courses are offered in partnership with google.org, Coursera and JFF.

There were 150,000 unfilled IT support jobs across the United States as of April 2018, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.   The median annual wage for computer user support specialists is $52,000, according to BLS.
