Eric Dale Swanson, 75 of rural Abingdon, passed away at 1:29 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2020, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born July 17, 1944, in Galesburg, the son of Dale E. and Vivian (Stokoe) Swanson. He married Sharen G. Howard on September 11, 1965, at the Abingdon United Methodist Church.
Eric is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sharen; two daughters, Penny Jo Price of Abingdon and Marnee (and Kevin) Petrakis of Abingdon; three grandchildren, Nathan Price, Kristin Price and Jeffrey Price; and his siblings.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Eric has lived in the Abingdon area all of his life. He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1962. He later took gun classes and studied and read up on arrowhead making and birds. He loved nature and enjoyed many a campfire with friends on the farm. He was a heavy equipment operator and worked out of Union Local #649 in Peoria. He retired in 2006. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was in charge of the website, www.wildsurvive.com, where he shared his love of nature and kept in contact with a lot of friends on that site.
As he requested to his family, cremation will be accorded and no services are planned. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel is assisting his family with arrangements.
