While on foot, the officers observed a subject exit a residence on Grand Avenue and began walking down the middle of the road. The subject, 41-year old Jay Randol of Galesburg, was stopped and advised that he was going to be detained and arrested for pedestrian walking in the roadway. While being arrested, according to police reports, the officers searched his person and discovered two unused hypodermic syringes. After searching Randol’s backpack, officers discovered a container with one gram of what field-tested positive for meth, a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue, and two bars that field-tested positive for ecstasy. Officers also recovered antique spoons, bank statements, and a set of keys that had been reported stolen earlier this month. Randol was arrested for pedestrian walking in the roadway, possession of meth less than 5 grams, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
