Early Thursday, August 6th, Galesburg police pulled over a Chevrolet SUV on East Main Street near Blaine Avenue without visible registration. Officers made contact with the driver: 32-year old Pepsi Smith of Galesburg, and it was discovered that she had a suspended license out of Iowa. Department policy is to impound the vehicle, so while doing an inventory check on the SUV, officers discovered a pipe used for smoking methamphetamine inside a rolled-up facemask inside a makeup bag. Smith was informed she was under arrest, and while doing a search of her person, Smith admitted to having a small baggie of meth on her. Smith was then transported to the Knox County Jail and charged for Possession of Meth less than 5 grams, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Driving While License Suspended.
