The Illinois State Bar Association has released its judicial advisory poll, a survey of members of the bar in a particular district.

The purpose is to give voters an idea of attorneys’ opinions on candidates for judicial office.

In the 9th Judicial Circuit, which includes Knox County, Emily Sutton and Andrew Doyle are the two candidates.

Sutton faired better in the ISBA Poll. She received, in the category meets the requirement of office, a rating of 80 out of 100, while Doyle Scored a 60, below the threshold for getting a recommendation to serve as a judge.

About half as many returned surveys for Doyle.
She was appointed to serve the remainder of Paul Mangieri’s term upon his retirement.

Doyle was lower than Sutton in every category but for one, including sensitivity, court management, integrity, impartiality, and legal ability. He was rated slightly higher in the category of health.

Doyle was rated lowest in legal ability and court management. Sutton did get about twice as many respondents to rate her abilities.

That’s the seat the same seat Sutton and Doyle seek in November.
