Carl Sandburg College will remain open for in-person instruction after a positive coronavirus case was confirmed at the school.

On Friday, Carl Sandburg College announced that the community college had been informed that an individual who was present on the Galesburg campus on Thursday, August 20th, had been diagnosed with COVID-19.

Sandburg says they’re working in cooperation with the Knox County Health Department to identify and contact those who may have come in close contact with the individual and may have had exposure to the coronavirus.

The community college says they’ve made it a standard practice to clean and disinfect all areas of its buildings in accordance with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Illinois Department of Public Health.

Sandburg will be back to in-person learning Monday and they say they’ll require everyone on its campuses to wear face coverings and maintain a distance of six feet or more from others to minimize the risk of exposure to coronavirus.

Additionally, visitors will be required to fill out a health screening survey at the school’s website each day they arrive on campus.
