
On Saturday, October 10th, around 2:30 am, while on routine patrol near Grand and Michigan Avenues, Galesburg Police approached the Grand Tap and observed several vehicles with occupants in the parking lot with engines running. When GPD turned westbound onto Grand Avenue, several of the vehicles sped off – and police observed a male subject heading towards a car to drive away. According to police reports, officers recognized the subject as 25-year old Keith Scott of Galesburg and knew he had several valid Knox County Warrants. With the assist of Knox County Sheriff’s Deputies, Scott was detained. Dispatch confirmed that Scott had warrants for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon with a $500,000 bond. Inside Scott’s car, police discovered a small amount of cannabis, an open bottle of Remy Martin on the passenger seat, and a loaded, 9mm compact Ruger pistol. An associate of Scott’s – 24-year old Davon Barber of Galesburg, arrived on the scene and began yelling and causing a disturbance while police were on scene. Barber was arrested for Obstruction. Scott was transported to the Knox County Jail. In addition to the warrants, Scott was also charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Violation of the FOID Card Act, and Illegal Transportation of Alcohol.
