
Knox County and state health officials announced another 4 deaths of residents today that had tested positive for COVID-19.
This is the 11th such death in the last 8 days, for a total of 16 Knox County deaths since the start of the pandemic.
Thursday’s deaths include a female in her 70s, a male in his 70s and a female in her 80s, and a female in her 90s.
To date, Knox has recorded 1,190 positive cases of COVID-19.
Illinois as a whole had nearly 5,000 new cases Thursday which is another single-day record, and comes as the state has averaged over 4,000 new daily cases in the past week.
Just the day before, the state recorded its highest daily coronavirus-related death toll since June, as the state continues to see increases in metrics on deaths, daily cases and test positivity rate.
