Marilyn “Mary” Collopy, age 88, of Galesburg, Illinois, formerly of Dahinda, Illinois died at 9:10 A.M. on Thursday, October 22, 2020, at her daughter’s home in Williamsfield.

Mary was born on March 7, 1932, in Dahinda, Illinois the daughter of Walter J. and Eleanor Anna (Kneer) Moore.
She attended and graduated from Williamsfield Highs School, class of 1950, then attended one year of college at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. She married Lyle Joseph “Joe” Collopy on June 14, 1952, in Dahinda, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 31, 1998.

Surviving two daughters: Janet Collopy of Williamsfield, Illinois and Connie (Mike) Zerull of Geneseo, Illinois; two sons: Mike (Lorie) Collopy of Gilson, Illinois and Dan Collopy of Henderson, Illinois; seven grandchildren: Steve (Tara) Collopy of Gilson, Illinois, Meta (Bob) Rask of Dahinda, Illinois, Bob (Lindsay) Zerull of Milan, Illinois, Joe (Erin) Zerull of East Moline, Illinois, Andrew (Gwen) Fritz of Dahinda, Illinois, Amanda (Nick Guido) Zerull of Carl Stream, Illinois, Maggie Collopy of Farmington, Illinois; ten great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Nancy Moore of Evanston, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Dean Moore, and son-in-law, Randy Fritz.

She was a homemaker and housewife. She worked as a bookkeeper for Joe Collopy & Sons Trucking, alongside her husband. For over sixty years she played the piano and organ for the Dahinda United Methodist Church, funerals, weddings, nursing home events, and much more. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge and any type of board games of any kind and Bingo. She was a social person and loved to be with family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with family present from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, October 30, 2020, at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 31, 2020, at the Williamsfield Cemetery in Williamsfield, Illinois,
with Rev. Teri Shane officiating. Burial will be in the Williamsfield Cemetery in Williamsfield, Illinois. Memorials contributions may be made to the Dahinda United Methodist Church or the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
